HoDoMS is the organisation for Heads of Departments in the Mathematical Sciences in UK universities. It aims to promote the interests of Mathematical Sciences in higher education in the UK and to facilitate dialogue between departments.
HoDoMS does this by:
Supporting and informing departments about matters relevant to the mathematical sciences.
Acting as a conduit for information sharing between and across departments and the mathematical sciences community.
Organising a reflective annual conference.
Undertaking and contributing to small projects benefiting the mathematical sciences community.
News
The 2026 HoDoMS Annual Conference and AGM took place from 30th April to 1st May in Birmingham. The conference was well attended, with over 60 HoDs, and a vibrant programme of talks and discussion sessions (see Events for details). The main item of the AGM was the selection of a new Chair (see News for more details). Professor Mary McAlinden’s term has ended, and the community thanked her for her very successful work over the last six years. Professor Andrew Hazel from the University of Manchester has been elected as the new Chair of HoDoMS.
